Introducing Cyphers

A prediction market on Solana where the side you pick stays encrypted until the market settles.

Cyphers team3 min read

The problem

On most prediction markets, every bet is public. Bots copy the smart money within seconds, the crowd leans on itself, and your calls become part of your on-chain profile.

The solution

Cyphers is a prediction market on Solana where the side you pick stays encrypted until the market settles. Nobody can tell which way you went, so there's nothing to copy.

How it works

Encrypted in your browser

Your side is encrypted before anything reaches Solana.

Hidden until settlement

Anyone reading the chain sees encrypted bytes they can't reverse.

Open to challenge

A 24 to 48 hour window lets anyone flag a wrong result before payouts go out.

Ready to build on

The TypeScript SDK can place a private bet in one call.

Why this matters

The price should reflect what people think, not what they saw everyone else do.

Prediction markets are one of the best ways to find out what people really believe. There's a catch: on most of them, every bet is public, so what you believe stops being yours the moment you act on it.

Cyphers is a prediction market on Solana built to fix that. You pick a side, and that side stays encrypted until the market settles.

The problem with public bets

On a public market, anyone who can read a block explorer can see which way you bet. That changes how the market behaves:

  • Bets get copied. Bots can follow whatever the smart money is doing within seconds.
  • The crowd leans on itself. When you can see where the money is going, it's hard to form your own view.
  • Your bets follow you. Political calls, sports calls and everything else become part of your on-chain profile.

What Cyphers changes

Your side is encrypted in your browser, before anything reaches Solana. Anyone reading the chain sees encrypted bytes they can't reverse. Nobody can tell which way you went until the market closes, so there's nothing to copy.

When the market settles, every bet is decrypted at once, winners are worked out, and the result is written back to Solana.

How a bet moves through Cyphers

  1. You pick a side

Choose a market, a side and an amount.

  2. It's encrypted

Your browser encrypts your side before it leaves.

  3. It lands on Solana

Your side stays hidden while the market runs.

  4. The market resolves

The outcome is posted and every bet is decrypted.

  5. Winners claim

After the challenge window, payouts go out in USDC.

The life of a bet, from your browser to your wallet.

The challenge window lasts 24 to 48 hours. It gives anyone time to flag a wrong result before payouts go out. If a resolver never posts an outcome, the market becomes refundable and bettors can take their stake back.

Two kinds of market

Binary

A clear question with two answers: yes or no. "Will SOL close above $300?"

Multi-outcome

One question with several named options, from elections to tournaments.

Anyone can open a market. Creators post a bond, choose who resolves it, and earn a fee on every bet placed in it.

Built to be built on

Everything the app does is available through the TypeScript SDK, @cypher-zk/sdk. Placing a private bet is one call, and the encryption happens inside it:

typescript
const result = await client.actions.placeBet({
payer: keypair.publicKey,
user: keypair.publicKey,
marketId: market.marketId,
side: 1, // 1 = YES for YesNo markets
amountUsdc: 2_000_000n, // $2.00 USDC (6 decimals)
});

// Keep the key, so you can see your own side later
saveSecret(marketPda, result.betIndex, result.userKeypair.privateKey);

The SDK quickstart has the full setup.

Try it

The Cyphers beta runs on Solana devnet.

Devnet USDC is test money with no real value. You can get some for free from the faucet.

The quickstart takes you from connecting a wallet to your first private bet. If you get stuck or have ideas, come and tell us on Discord.
